The following professional development workshops will be held in conjunction with the 2010 Illinois Energy Expo.

Maximizing Renewable Energy Applications in Commercial Real Estate
Hosted by Heartland Community College and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association.
This one-day workshop is designed for owners of commercial, industrial and multi-family buildings and their advisors, investors, managers, architects, engineers and attorneys. The purpose is to provide attendees with essential knowledge and practical options for applications of renewable energy in new construction and site renovation projects.
This presentation will provide an overview of PV (solar electric), solar thermal (hot water and heat), solar hot air, geothermal and wind energy systems. Participants will also discuss site assessment, design and installation processes. Participants will receive resources to estimate system costs, ROI and paybacks including governmental incentives, rebates, grants and credits. The workshop will also cover the latest developments in Renewable Energy Credits (REC's), industry certifications and relevant state and municipal initiatives.

Children's Discovery Museum, LEED Silver: Post Occupancy Energy Performance
Hosted by the USGBC Central IL Branch at the Children’s Discovery Museum, 101 East Beaufort Street, Normal, IL 61761. The following presenters will explore the relationship between designed energy performance and operational energy performance of the Children’s Discovery Museum: Geoff Fruin, Assistant City Manager, Town of Normal; Adrian Gurga, Engineer, University of Illinois, Smart Energy Design Assistance Center (SEDAC); and Jim McNally, Founding Principal, McNally Engineers Ltd.

Solar Market Transformation Conference - click here for agenda
Hosted by the Center for Renewable Energy at Illinois State University, the Midwest Renewable Energy Association and Heartland Community College.
This one-day solar conference will be held at the Normal Theater, as part of the 2010 Illinois Energy Expo at the Marriott in Uptown Normal. This event will bring together a variety of presenters to provide valuable information about our solar resources, technology, economics, marketplace, training capacity and partnerships to an audience of mayors, city planners, council members, and the general public.
Confirmed presenters include Mayor Chris Koos from Normal, Mayor Larry Morrissey from Rockford, Mark Burger of the Kestrel Development Company, and Dave Kennell from the Center for Renewable Energy, Nick Hylla from the Midwest Renewable Energy Association, and Tim Wilhelm from Kankakee Community College.
